We love here.
Sometimes I forget that I was there.
Sometimes the feeling that I got while I was standing there feels like a distant memory.
But, sometimes…. Sometimes, I am there. I feel the wind whipping my hair around my face. I feel my breath becoming labored (from the hike and the height).
Not ever before, and not ever since, have I had such an intense feeling of aliveness. I was so wide awake. I was there. All there. Thinking of nothing else, feeling nothing else, doing nothing else. Just being, thinking, and feeling there.
I am nostalgic for that feeling. The place is irrelevant.
I love this picture more than I love most pictures that I have taken.
While I was unemployed, mister was making this fancy banjo from scratch. Like, from pieces of wood and screws and things. I don’t get it, but I do know that it looks pretty and it sounds amazing.
Fretless, tackhead, internal tension, cutiepants.
This handsome man is doing big things, y’all.
We’re just making it up as we go along, but I guess that’s how life always is.
My life has taken some interesting turns lately, including unemployment and moving back in with my parents. But he is helping me find my purpose. For now, it is doing whatever I can to help him find his way.
I hope that if I spend some time just living, that my purpose will find me.
So in the meantime, we are moving to the country. I need some space to stretch my legs and let my mind air out. Not to mention some time to pad my wallet. City living is pricey these days!
I know this picture is terrible, but Lola is so hard to capture. She is the wriggliest pup there ever was.
Ben and I have talked about it and we both agree that one of the things we love most about Lola is that she is completely healthy. We had just a heart wrenching experience with Banjo Darling (with her parvo/distemper), and we were so scared of a repeat performance with Lola, especially because they were both in the same general environment. We bleached all the hard surfaces, but one can never be too sure.
But! This little gigantic pup is hardy and healthy and growing like a weed.
Here is what I’ve learned about Lola so far:
- Half bloodhound/half black lab.
- 5 months old. 45 pounds.
- Full grown, she will probably be around 90 pounds.
- She loves meat. She does not really love vegetables.
- She is SO a pack dog. Her favorite place is under your legs, her favorite play is pushing against your body with hers.
- She sheds. A lot. Of black hairs.
- She only wants to be groomed using an old horse grooming brush.
- She is single-pawedly the most affectionate dog I’ve ever met.
We’re in puppy love in these parts.
